Not Just Another Huntington Beach Roofing Contractor... Established in 1980, we have helped refine the roofing industry standards and techniques throughout Huntington Beach, California and beyond for over 36 years. Owner Joe Ronstadt SR has served as a technical industry consultant for roofing tile manufactures and building departments throughout Huntington Beach and the Inland Empire. He has published numerous editorials in the OC register and various magazines regarding proper roofing techniques.
There are some good Huntington Beach Roofing Contractors with high standards and good intentions, some of whom do a fine job, but too often others fall short, you've heard the stories. Part of the problem is a lack of understanding of the mechanisms of functional roofing and water proofing. We are not all the same. If a contractor is following the guidelines of the roofing industry he is failing you, because believe it or not, the national roofing guidelines have many flaws in them.
We exceed the National roofing and roof repair guidelines by far. We practice higher standards as defined by us, from many years of accurately interpreting what works and what doesn’t. We Truly Set The Bar...
ROOFING INFO YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Huntington Beach Roofing, With Blue Knight ROOF REPAIRS:
Don't take for granted the complexities of quality roof repair. Do you want the same standard roofing techniques that put you in the position of making this call, or would you like to solve the problem this time? Most likely the problem can be corrected by fixing broken, slipped or missing tiles. Or by simply correcting the poor roofing workmanship that is causing the leak. This can be done at a very reasonable cost. In other cases however, the solution may be to rebuild the trouble areas with new paper and better designed flashings, etc... Most important this time is to redesign the integration with the flashings and special drainage areas, so that the new tar-paper stays dry and the leaks do not reoccur and "roof repairs" do not become a regular event of winter.
Huntington Beach Roofing, With Blue Knight THE ROOFING LICENSE NUMBER:
The California Contractors State License Law requires contractors to display their license number prominently along with all advertising. A wise roofing consumer should make note of the roofers license number when shopping for roofing contractors and check it with the Contractors State License Board, for the following: Date issued, Insurance, employees, Disciplinary actions, etc... A very important bit of data is how long they've in business under that particular license number. No excuses should be accepted like "we were in business under another number before". The current License number is the only one relevant to you.

This is not your average roofing craftsmanship. Blue Knight roofing systems are engineered with the correct balance of function and esthetics as defined by us.
Believe it or not, this is a typical roof valley that was done according to the accepted guidelines of the roofing industry. But obviously it is not allowing water to run freely and unobstructed. Instead it is diverting the rain water under the tile and onto the fragile sub layer of the tar paper which eventually rots away and allows penetration into the house.
This is not the correct balance of function and esthetics and it is also why we do not blindly follow the flawed roofing industry guidlines.
Many years ago we developed our own roofing standards as defined by us, which exceeds the national roofing standards by far...
Dry rot and Termites are most often the result of a leaky roof or poor design. Common Causes are roof overhangs, where the rain washes onto the shiplap and fascia board.
In California, the terms of all home improvement projects over $500 (combined material and labor costs) must be in a contract and include specific information about your consumer rights and responsibilities.
What is a Home Improvement Contract and When Do I Need One?
A home improvement contract is an agreement between a contractor and a property owner or between a contractor and a tenant, and includes in its description all labor, services, and materials to be furnished and performed. A home improvement contract also can mean an agreement between a salesperson (home improvement salesperson) and property/home owner or tenant. (Business and Professions Code section 7151.2) This contract is the most important communication tool between you and your contractor; it should identify all project expectations to help avoid misunderstandings.
ROOFING CONSUMER TIP 2
Beware of improperly licensed contractors on Yelp and AngiesList! With popularity of these forums, Contractor fraud is prevalent. By my estimation, there is 25-40% Improperly licensed contractors posing as Roofing Contractors on these forums. Most are general contractors illegally providing roofing services, which promotes poor workmanship and puts the customer at risk. A specialized roofing license requires the licensee to obtain workers compensation insurance regardless if they have employees or not. This helps to curtail payroll cheating and the like.
To summarize, Hire a licensed roofing Contractor with a C39 license. You should always check their license either by company name or by their license number. If you have any question about a licensee or his claims, you may call me at 714-849-5896. Check the CSLB website for license classifications at www.cslb.ca.gov
Contractors law provides restrictions for General Contractors as stated below: “A general building contractor shall not take a prime contract for any project involving trades other than framing or carpentry unless the prime contract requires at least two unrelated building trades or crafts other than framing or carpentry, or unless the general building contractor holds the appropriate license classification or subcontracts with an appropriately licensed specialty contractor to perform the work.” Check The CSLB website for license classifications at cslb.com
